Custom Design Minimum Quantity

Because of the extensive set-up time and expense required to custom screen-print your logo, we have a 12 piece minimum for screen-printing and a 7 piece for vinyl.

Will my logo fit on a cap?

The maximum height for a head-wear design is 2.25″ high (less for visors at 1.25″ tall by 4.0″ wide). The width may be as wide as 4.5″ or even more. Depending on the cap style we may be able to make it a little bigger.
Small text; The smallest text we can print to remain legible is about 0.25″ (6mm) high.
Logo position for caps; most logos are centered on the middle front of the cap. We do get several requests for lower left or lower right positioning (closest to the bill). On a finished caps, depending on the style, we can place the logo approximately 1 1/4″ to 1 1/2″ from the bill. We can screen print on the back of a cap if it is one color and simple text.

How many colors can I have printed on a cap?

We have a maximum of a 2 colors depending on the cap style, shirts and tees can have up to 4 colors. This will also depend on the logo.

Can all caps be screen-printed?

No, not all cap can be printed. We generally prefer to screen-print on 5 panel caps without the seam down the front. The more detailed the design is, the more difficult it will be to print over the front seam. Once we receive your logo, we will notify you if we feel that your logo is too detailed for printing on a cap.

What lettering styles (fonts) can I use?

You can pick from our selection of screen-printing fonts. If you do not like one from our selection then you can send us the lettering and layout that you would like.

Where can I print on a garment?

Standard locations that can be printed on a garment include full front, full back, left chest, and sleeves. Please see our screen printing dimensions and garment printing location info page. If you have a special request please contact a customer service rep.

Can I get a printed sample of my design before ordering?

We can do a minimum order of 12 pieces for screen printing 7 for vinyl heat press  even for a sample order. We can also offer for you to come in and proof the design off the before we print all the garments..

How and when do I pay?

KD Shirt Shop requires 50% of the invoice paid at the time of art approval and order approval. We accept Mastercard/Visa and Amex. You can send a money order or check but it would need to clear before your order ships. We also will accept full payment if you choose to do so.

Can you print a copyrighted/trademarked design for me?

Total Exposure Designs will not print any trademarked or copyrighted designs with out written consent from the owners of said trademarks or copyrights.

What is “flashing”?

“Flashing” is the process of putting a layer of white ink down on the garment and flash drying it so that top layers of ink will show up on dark colored garments. It also helps stop bleeding from certain materials like polyest

Why will my web graphic not print good on shirts ?

Web graphics are not high enough resolution to print correctly and look good on garments and promotional items.

Do you Print on Demand Dye Sublimation ?

Yes we can print on demand Dye Sublimation (sublimation does not print on black shirts or print the color white and only on only light garments).

Can I resell shirts I've purchased from KD Shirt Shop?

Yes, you can resell shirts you’ve purchased from us as long as they use our clip art,design templates that we own or uploaded images that you own the rights to.

Can you print over a zipper?

We don’t recommend it. Yes, we can, though the print may get muddy over the seams. If you want the print to be perfect, we would try to revise your artwork to avoid the zipper

Where can I see a sizing chart for my garment?

You can always ask us to direct you to a size chart, or if you know the garment style number, you can find the size specs for your garment by visiting our main suppliers’ website.  SSActivewear, Sanmar, and Alphabroder are our main suppliers. If you’re ordering a specialty garment, ask us to provide a sizing chart.

Can I bring my own garments in?

Yes but we would prefer to use garments we get from our vendors to insure that we can get the product quickly if there’s any issues with imprinting of the design or imperfections in the garment. Will require you to fill out our customer-supplied-garments form you must print and e-mail the form to KD Shirt Shop befor we do any work on your provided shirts. Click Here To See Form

What are your screen charges?

Each colour in a design requires its own unique screen and film. The cost per colour is $25 ($20.00 for the screen setup and $5 film charge). The film is kept on file for 12 months after your order is fulfilled. If you re-order you won’t be charged for screen and film setup.


Are there limits to what I can have printed?



We do not accept orders that require printing a bar scan or any type of scan logo (including QR codes) as this is problematic and could risk the bar-code not scanning properly.

Will I see a sample of my logo screen-printed?

Yes, once you place your order and give us a 35% deposit. We will take a picture and email it to you at NO CHARGE to get your approval before we print all the merchandise on your order. This generally takes 5 to 7 business days to receive from the day you place your order. Once you place your order we will print out your logo on the cap, tee or shirt. We will take a picture of it and e-mail it to you at NO CHARGE for you to approve. You can requested adjustments if the logo is not made to look like the art you provided. You can also request adjustments if the letter style or ink color is not as ordered. This would be made at no extra charge. If you receive the sample as ordered but still want to make changes, we would charge an edit fee depending on the change needed. If you make changes to the actual logo that you have selected or provided then we do charge edits fees. Any changes you request (size, color, position) will be made and a revised sample will be sent to you via email. If you prefer that we send you the actual sample, there will be an additional charge of $25.00. This includes shipping your sample to you UPS ground service. Your order may be delayed 3 to 5 business days.

Can I order a "BLANK" sample first to insure I like the item?

It may be a good idea to order a few blank caps or shirts that you may be interested in having us embroider for you. This way you are sure that you like that particular item. You can place your order through our other website; . Once you decide on the items you like, we will credit you back 30% of the cost of the samples (up to 3 pieces) and apply the credit towards your custom order. Freight charges are not refunded.

How long will it take to receive my order?

The complete process takes approximately 12 – 15 business days. The sample take 5 to 7 business days. Once the sample is approved we generally ship within 7 to 8 business days.

Cancellations and Changes?

Custom screen-printed items: Once an order is placed with a customized logo and then it is changed or cancelled, even if possible is subject to cancellation, screen set up fees and freight charges that apply. If the merchandise has already been decorated, it is not returnable. If we create the sample and email it to you for approval but do not receive a reply or any attempt to contact us within 10 days, you are subjected to forfeiting 25% of your order payment you will also incur a $25 order restocking fee for garments that have already been ordered.

What is the normal turnaround time for screen printing?

The normal turnaround for screenprinting is 7-10 days from art and order approval.

What is the normal turnaround time for embroidery?

The normal turnaround for embroidery is 12 days from art and order approval

Why does the ink color on my shirt not match my computer screen?

Due to different monitor settings, ink colors may vary slightly from your computer screen. The ink color will be close to what you see on your screen.

How big can I screen print on a t-shirt?

Total Exposure Designs’ largest print dimension is 14 inches wide OR tall. Please take a look at our screen printing dimensions page . Please contact a rep for help determining the best size for your design.

What is your minimum order?

Our minimum order for screen printing is 12 pieces and vinyl is 7 pieces all with the same size design and ink colors.

Can I get different color garments?

Different color garments can be purchased as long as the artwork will print the same on each color garment. Please contact a customer service representative. to ensure that your design will work on different color garments.

Do you Print on Demand Screen Printing or Flex Vinyl Heat Press ?

No due to the setup and costs involved in our printing process (quality screen printing, flex vinyl heat press and embroidery), it is not possible to “Print on Demand”.

We do not require a minimum order at all. If you want the garment at wholesale pricing we require at least 12 for screen printing and 7 for vinyl heat press. of the same design and color garment.

How do I get wholesale pricing ?

For screen printing, in order to give you wholesale prices, our minimum order is 12 pieces per design per garment color shade (12 white or light colors, or 12 dark colors).

For flex heat vinyl, the minimum is 7 pieces per design.

As your order size increases, the price per item decreases.

What if I need a size or product not listed on your website?

Feel free to give us a call at 1-630-273-2050 before you place your order. We’re always happy to help you find alternative sizes or products that we can print on.

Can I get screen printing and embroidery on the same garment?

Yes, though the turnaround time would be a bit longer.

What are the differences between Hanes and Gildan?

For the most part, it is simply personal preference. After several trips through the laundry most people wouldn’t be able to tell the difference between them. Especially in Youth sizes.

Can you create an online store so that my team/organization/group can pre-sell items for an event?

We sure can! We can create a professional web store stocked with your items. Customers can purchase and pay through our system. This option definitely beats creating an excel spreadsheet or keeping track of a stack of printed order forms!


Can I use copyrighted material?

We do not take any responsibility to obtain permission for reproduction of logos, patents, trademarks and copyrights. By agreeing to print any submitted artwork, we will not be held liable for any copyright issues under any circumstances. University, Professional Sports, company brand logos can only be submitted if you submit a license logo release form from the university to avoid any future royalty fees. Fraternity/Sorority logos or names require the order to go through an approval process, and may require additional royalty fees. Please call our sales team for further details.
